Yahoo Claims “In Japan I’m Huge”.

While stats out from Hitwise today show Google still reigns supreme in the United States, in Japan, it’s a different story. Yahoo remains the top search engine there, the latest stats from comScore show, and it’s growing faster than Google. comScore reports Yahoo is still leading, in a major way, in Japan. Yahoo holds over 51 percent of search market share in Japan, where Google only holds 38 percent. Japanese searchers also search more at Yahoo then other search engines with 62 searches per searcher, where Google has 53 searches per searcher.

Adsense publishers sues Google and wins $761.00

I have been following this story for a couple days and now that the outcome has been published I’d thought I’d share it with you guys. This happened to my company about 3 years ago and just recently to a friend of mine who runs a blog on Weekly Crochet Savings and he has been dropped as a publisher.

Google’s Vince Update Produces Big Brand Rankings; Google Calls It A Trust “Change”

About a week ago, SEOs and Webmasters began noticing a significant change in how Google returned results for a certain set of keywords. Many webmasters felt Google was giving “big brands” a push in the search results. However, Matt Cutts of Google created a video that answered many questions about this “brand push.”

A new tool takes us one small step closer to bringing real-time search, i.e., Twitter search results, to the Google interface. It’s called Twitter Search Results on Google, and it adds the most recent five tweets for your search query above Google’s regular search results, like this:

How to Leverage Social Media for Local SEO

Recently at SMX West I spoke with fellow Search Engine Land writer David Mihm and I touched on the subject of using social media as way to gather web references quickly. Web references as we all know are the equivalent to links in the Google local search world, so being able to quickly generate quality web references is becoming an essential skill. Really good social media marketers are not just able to create web references but also have a good shot at controlling almost all the content on the page. With MySpace or even Facebook this is easily done.
