Search results and SEO in general is definitely something you should concentrate on, but does anyone “know” or have the “heard” about you and your product/site/widget ? You need some Branding help. First things first, build up the awareness about what it is that you have/do. Publish the content as often and as pertinent as possible, don’t throw a bunch of crap together because that will be the image you’ve created. Here are a few simple steps to get you going in the right direction.
- The Mission: What is your target audience: What are the demographics? What are their web habits? How can you engage them directly and get them hyped up for what it is that you are offering?
- A little Recon: Once you locate your target, shadow them. What sites are they going to, what widgets/services are they interested in? Learn why they are attracted to the places they are going.
- Weapons: Google’s Insight tool is a wealth of info, maps, data, sites, keywords. Use it!
- After Action: Once you have everything up and running, go back run the reports, start tweaking, add/remove keywords. Try keyword phrases.
This is just the start, do these things and you will be well on your way to where you want to be!
