Hello everybody, Just a quick post tonight on my impromptu razor review. What do Shoemoney, Problogger and me ContentPig have in common, besides the fact that we are all devastatingly good looking we are all bald.
For christmas my nephews got me a gillette gift-pack, fusion razor, shaving cream, bodywash and shampoo. Since I had to cut my hair tonight I figured I’d use it. (Now if you want to skip the rest of the story and pics just drop on down to the end of the post for my review.)
The Gillette Fusion is a 5 blade wonder. I should say 6 blade wonder as it has a trimmer blade on the back. I think the razor retails for around $10.00 and the blades are something like $15.00 for a 4-pack.
So I’m in the shower doing my thing washing up and I start to shave my head, I shave my head in the shower for a couple reasons:
- it’s easy
- nothing to clean up (it goes down the drain)
- I’m already in there and clean.
I use HeadBlade’s Head Slick as a shaving cream it’s mentholated and I love it. I just lather up my head and go to town. I shave with the grain for the most part, starting in the front and working my way to the back.
So I start with the Fusion I go for the first pass and try to rinse the bits out of the razor, no joy, I guess with all those blades the hair gets stuck. So I have to bang the razor on the side of the shower to dislodge the hair. As I’m doing this I notice there is hardly any hair in there. So I take another 6 or 7 passes. What I realize is that with so many blades, they are not all contacting my head at the same time and I’m having to make several passes to get a clean close cut. Now this is not only time consuming, but it is starting to irritate my head. That’s it I had I get out of the shower and find my trusty Mach 3 then I head back in to finish what I started. So I hop in take a couple swipes and realize I need to change the blade so I jump back out and grab a new razor blade, while I’m out I have a thought and decide to grab my HeadBlade Sport and a women’s Gillette Venus I had laying around and then I jump back in the shower to finish what I started.
So now I have 4 real razors and my remington titanium in the shower. I spread a little more Head Slick on my head and go to town giving each razor it’s fair share of surface to shave.
The winner hands down, is the Gillette Mach 3. No other razor came close to the shave achieved by the Mach 3. It is easy to use, easy to clean, and a great razor. I also have to mention the Head Blade. The Head Blade is awesome and has an adaptor to use the Mach 3 blades. The HeadBlade razors used to be really good, but I think they have since changed their supplier.
Bonus Shot of the Head Blade Head Slick.
My review of the Gillette Fusion:
Don’t waste your time and money, stick with the Mach 3, for the real best a man can get.
