October Revenue Review: Is this Blog Making Money?

Ok, So I’ve been asked a few dozen times in the last week or so, if this blog has been making any money and if I’m ranked in google and the like. Well I have some interesting results. First let me tell you what I’ve done and a little of what I haven’t done. As of right now, 11.12.08 I have not tried to get any traffic of any type through any sources including text links, link exchange, paid traffic, Ad-words, or anything. I have no myspace of facebook page, no linked in site, no youtube, or instructables, no free giveaways. You get the point I haven’t done much of anything in that sense for this my first month of existence. Now I can promise you that, all of this will be changing and I will be on a mission to get quality traffic and followers, and subscribers, but for this first month I was concentrating on getting the site up and functioning for the most part. I think I have a done a good job so far, and I think in the next three months or so I will at least double my adsense revenue and try to triple my subscribers. So with all that said lets see where we are sitting at now.

I registered the domain name contentpig.com on Sept. 30th 2008 and I finally got around to loading Wordpress on the 3rd of October. You can see in my screen capture from whois.net.

So after I got wordpress installed on the 3rd of Oct. I created a few posts and then set-up my google adsense channel for the domain. I made sure to have a few posts that contained the keywords for this particle niche and then I went ahead and added the code to display the ad-sense ads. Below you can see my earnings for Oct. Now keep in mind I have almost no traffic other than the bots and scrappers and a few people I have told about the site. I know you’re curious so I’ll tell you, the site generated just about $30.00 in it’s first month with google adsense. Check the screen capture below.

So as you can see it is very possible to generate income from a well written and properly SEO’d blog. In the very near future I will be tweaking the appearance and maybe run a poll or two, a contest or three, and a few other things to try to boost loyal readership and overall crowd participation. Making a few dollars is fun and rewarding but more than that I would like to establish a real presence on the web. Now with that said and a previously mentioned brief snippet about readership and subscribers, just how many subscribers does contentpig.com currently have. Well the short and sweet answer is about 6 and I think they are all bots and scrappers if that is at all possible. Either way my goal is to triple that to 18 in the next three months. So to sum this post up, I went from a google page rank of 0 to 3 in 30 days. I went from 0 subscribers to 6 in 30 days. I went from $0 to $29 in 30 days. I went from 0 pages google indexed to 20 pages google indexed in 30 days. This will definitely be an interesting journey of mine and hopefully yours. There are alot of pages and blogs out there that are making money and they are selling you e-books and tools to get you on their level. I’m taking you directly on the journey from zero to hero. I’m showing you every step and mis-step for that matter… All for Free! You finally have inside access to see how it’s done from day 1 up until whenever we make it to the big time.
